In this study we evaluated UAV-based multispectral images for predicting nitrogen content (NC) in specific organs of winter wheat and mapping nitrogen use efficiency (NUE), using data from field trials in China and Germany. It highlights the challenges of transferring trained ML models predicting crop nitrogen content across datasets with varying wheat cultivars, cameras, and environmental conditions (China vs. Germany). For instance, using texture features improved model performance for NC prediction but reduced transferability across cultivars.
