Research Overview: Complex Soft Matter
Our research group focuses on understanding and controlling the formation and interactions of soft materials at the nanoscale, using principles of molecular self-assembly. We harness a wide range of building blocks – including polymers, biomolecules, and colloidal particles – with the goal of engineering colloidal systems and interfaces capable of specific molecular recognition and targeted functionality. In tandem, we are advancing state-of-the-art material characterization techniques and data analysis methods, complemented by the release of open-source software packages and publications that detail our approaches. To date, much of our work has been applied in healthcare and environmental contexts; however, our methodologies and material concepts are broadly relevant to other sectors (including food science and texture engineering)
